| Service | Guide charge | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Standard-hours callout | From £75 | Attendance and diagnosis only |
| Out-of-hours callout | £100–£180 | Attendance and diagnosis only |
Ask for the callout charge, labour and any other known costs before agreeing to a visit. We will agree the total price, or how it will be calculated, before you commit; any repair, parts or additional work needs your agreement before it starts.
Leak detection does not include the repair. Boiler work requires an appropriately qualified engineer; the boiler service price does not include a separate landlord gas safety certificate. Jobs outside the listed ranges or services without a published guide require an individual quote.

- Shower leaks, flow and temperature problems
- Bath taps, wastes, traps and overflow leaks
- Repair or replacement options after assessment
What should you do first?
Shower and bathtub faults can involve the water supply, taps or mixer, waste pipework, overflow or seals. Describe whether the problem is a visible leak, poor flow, changing temperature or slow drainage. Stop using a fixture that is sending water into the building; assessment is needed before selecting a repair.
Does it leak while running or while emptying?
Tell us where water is visible and what was happening when it appeared. A leak around a tap connection, a bath overflow used during filling and a waste that leaks while emptying call for different checks. Do not fill or run the fixture again to demonstrate a leak that may damage the room below. Existing observations or safe photographs are more useful.
Mixer shower or electric shower?
Give the make and model if visible without removing covers. A mixer uses the property’s hot and cold supply; an electric shower includes electrical components with different work requirements. Do not remove an electric shower cover or attempt electrical diagnosis. Explain whether other taps have normal hot water and flow so the enquiry can be directed appropriately.
Is resealing enough to fix a shower leak?
A visible failed seal may be relevant, but resealing does not repair a leaking waste, concealed supply connection or other underlying fault. Ask how the cause will be assessed before choosing cosmetic work. Discuss access beneath the bath or tray, any required parts and who will reinstate finishes if opening up is necessary.
Choose the relevant next step.
General guidance, not a diagnosis. For water network or drainage responsibility information, consult Scottish Water. For shared building arrangements, consult Edinburgh Council shared repair guidance.

Helpful answers before you call.
Can a slow bath be treated as a shower repair enquiry?
Yes. Explain whether the bath, shower or both drain slowly and whether other fixtures back up. Several affected fixtures may require a wider drainage assessment.
Should a shower with unpredictable temperature still be used?
Stop using it if the temperature is unsafe. Describe the system and whether the fault also affects other outlets; the cause needs assessment rather than an assumed replacement part.
Can I book shower & bathtub repairs in my Edinburgh postcode?
Call with your full postcode and the details of the fault. We’ll confirm coverage, current availability and the appropriate next step.
What information is useful for shower & bathtub repairs?
Whether the fault affects a shower, bath or both The make and model of any shower if known Where it leaks, drains slowly or has changed performance.
How much will the work cost?
Standard-hours callout starts from £75 for attendance and diagnosis only. Callout charges cover attendance and diagnosis only and are separate from repair labour. How quickly can a plumber get to me?
Our average response to emergency callouts is under 60 minutes. It is an average, not a guarantee: arrival depends on your location, traffic and other callouts, and outlying towns take longer. When you call, we give you an arrival estimate for your address.
What should I do if water is escaping?
If safe, turn off the relevant isolation valve or main stopcock. Keep clear of wet electrical fittings and do not attempt repairs on gas or electrical equipment. Call for professional advice.
Prefer to book on WhatsApp?
WhatsApp booking requests are for weekday daytime visits, Monday to Friday within 7am–7pm, Edinburgh local time. One same-day slot is offered each weekday, at least 3 hours ahead; for a same-day booking, call 0131 210 0505 to confirm.
Choose an available date and then a two-hour time window in the chat. Bookings are provisional until the plumber confirms. The work and price must be discussed and agreed before work starts. Online and WhatsApp bookings are not available at weekends: for a weekend or bank holiday visit, call 0131 210 0505 (out-of-hours pricing applies). Standard rates apply Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. Callout, labour, parts and materials are separate charges: agree all applicable charges before committing to a visit.
