Essential services and optional measurement
Essential booking security works whether you accept or reject optional tracking. On 247emergencyplumberedinburgh.co.uk and its www version, we ask before loading Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement. On preview and development domains, Google measurement stays disabled. There is no embedded WhatsApp chat widget; WhatsApp opens when you choose its link or scan the locally hosted QR code.
Your measurement choice
Choose Allow measurement to permit Google Analytics and Google Ads to measure website use and advertising results, or Reject optional to continue without loading those services. The website keeps all Google consent categories denied until you opt in and does not enable personalised advertising. Both choices leave calls, bookings, enquiries and the photo check available. The Cookie settings button lets you change your choice later.
What is stored
- PHPSESSID: a first-party browser-session identifier for email verification, anti-forgery checks and secure booking requests. It does not itself contain the property details entered in the form. It uses Secure and HttpOnly flags. Browser session restoration can affect when a session ends.
- epe_measurement_consent_v1: local storage on the main domain recording your measurement choice and its time for up to 180 days. It contains no booking details. If your browser blocks preference storage, the choice applies to the current page only.
- _ga and _ga_*: Google Analytics cookies may be used after opt-in to distinguish visits and measure website activity. They normally have a lifetime of up to two years, subject to browser limits and the Google account settings.
- _gcl_*: Google advertising measurement cookies may be used after opt-in, for example to associate an ad click with later activity. Relevant cookies commonly last up to 90 days; exact lifetimes depend on the cookie, browser and Google settings.
Google's linked destinations and settings can affect measurement behaviour. Our website uses one Google tag loader and does not load the old empty Tag Manager containers. We do not treat opening the phone dialler as a completed call or an automatically confirmed booking.
Rejecting or withdrawing
Before consent, and after a rejection on a fresh page, this integration makes no Google tag requests. Withdrawing updates consent to denied, disables Analytics collection, removes accessible first-party _ga and _gcl cookies and reloads the page without the Google library. We cannot remove cookies set on a different domain. You can also clear site storage through your browser. Withdrawal does not undo measurement already sent while you consented.
Maps and external services
When the area map becomes visible, your browser requests OpenStreetMap tiles. External Google, email and WhatsApp links open separate services which may use their own cookies. See the privacy notice for providers and information sharing.
Your controls
Blocking essential sessions may prevent verification and booking submission. You can still telephone 0131 210 0505. Contact info@247emergencyplumberedinburgh.co.uk or 0131 210 0505 if you have a question about website storage.
Service and area context
epe_measurement_context_v1 is session storage used only after measurement consent on the main domain. It remembers the last-viewed service category and area-guide slug so enquiry performance can be compared across content. It contains no customer address, full postcode or contact details, ends with the browser session and is removed when you withdraw consent. Custom measurement uses fixed categories for form steps, technical problems, received enquiries, provisional booking requests and WhatsApp options. Code requests and button clicks are not counted as received leads; QR visibility is not a scan. See the privacy notice for details.
