Know your house
Find the stopcock, usually under the kitchen sink, and check that it turns. Find the boiler's pressure gauge and note the reading when the system is cold. Locate the condensate pipe that runs from the boiler to a drain outside.
Keep the handover pack somewhere safe. It should list the boiler model and the warranty details.
The condensate pipe
In freezing weather, the condensate pipe can freeze and stop the boiler, often with a fault code. You can usually thaw it by pouring warm, not boiling, water along the outside section. If it keeps happening, the pipe may need insulating or rerouting.

Ask for the callout charge, labour and any other known costs before agreeing to a visit. We will agree the total price, or how it will be calculated, before you commit; any repair, parts or additional work needs your agreement before it starts.
Leak detection does not include the repair. Boiler work requires an appropriately qualified engineer; the boiler service price does not include a separate landlord gas safety certificate. Jobs outside the listed ranges or services without a published guide require an individual quote.

A small drop after installation can happen as air escapes. Repeated losses mean a leak and need checking.
