In the newer estates
Combi boilers in new houses send condensate to a drain through a plastic pipe that often runs outside. In a hard frost, that pipe can freeze and stop the boiler. Pour warm water along the outside section to thaw it, then reset the boiler.
Garage pipes and outside taps also freeze. Insulate them and drain outside taps for the winter.
In older homes
Older houses may have pipes in cold sub-floor voids or lofts with less insulation. If a pipe freezes, thaw it slowly with warm cloths or a hairdryer and check for splits once water flows again.

Leak detection does not include the repair. Boiler work requires an appropriately qualified engineer; the boiler service price does not include a separate landlord gas safety certificate. Jobs outside the listed ranges or services without a published guide require an individual quote.
